Lil Wayne Taken to Hospital After Suffering Seizures Mid-Flight
Update, 6/14: A rep for Lil Wayne confirmed to The Fader that the rapper is "in good spirits" following a seizure while in flight on Monday.
"We can confirm that he did experience a minor seizure earlier this afternoon," the rep told The Fader via email. "Under the guidance of his own doctors, he is now in stable condition and good spirits. He thanks his fans for their everlasting support, prayers and well wishes."
Original post: Lil Wayne has reportedly been taken to a hospital after a second seizure forced his private jet to make two emergency landings earlier today (June 13).
The rapper allegedly suffered an initial seizure during a flight from Milwaukee to California, which caused the aircraft to make a sudden landing in Nebraska, according to a report from TMZ.
Wayne reportedly blacked out during the seizure, but denied medical treatment when he regained consciousness around 1:30PM PST. Minutes after his private jet took off again, he suffered a second seizure that caused yet another emergency landing in Omaha. He has reportedly been taken to an unspecified hospital via ambulance.
TMZ goes on to report that the same thing happened to Lil Wayne back in 2012, when he suffered two seizures in 24 hours, causing his private jet to make two emergency landings in less than two days. The rapper has stated in the past that he suffers from epilepsy, and stopped drinking lean — a drink that includes high doses of codeine — because of the seizures.
A year after that, he was rushed to the hospital following another seizure.
“I go to sleep and wake up in the hospital,” he told MTV of the unpredictable episodes back in 2013. “I don’t feel anything. I’m 100, I just hope it stops happening…No warning, no nothing. I don’t feel sick."
