Congressmen Holding Fundraisers at Taylor Swift’s Washington Concerts
UPDATE: Turns out this information was false — Swift’s reps have told us that the singer’s shows are not, in fact, doubling as political fundraisers.
Taylor Swift is already a musical powerhouse, but she could soon turn into a political one, as well.
The superstar pulls into the nation’s capital this week for a pair of shows that will have seven Congressman in attendance to help them raise funds.
The concerts are slated for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. On Tuesday, half a dozen members of Congress will be on hand, including South Dakota Senator John Thune and representatives Jo Bonner (Alabama), Michael Grimm (New York), Tom Price (Georgia) and Kay Granger (Texas). They are all Republicans, who will be joined by lone Democrat Heath Shuler of North Carolina.
Wednesday night’s concert will feature one politician, Republican Rep. Paul Broun (Georgia).
Tickets for the fundraisers can fetch as much as $1,000, with Senator Thune asking for a cool $3,500.
Tickets to both shows are sold out, but you can find some still available via StubHub!
