With Halloween on the way and the times being the way they are, I know a lot of you will be trying to cut some corners and are looking for some ways to save a little cash.

I implore you, don't try to skimp and save on your kid's Halloween costume. The DIY method does not cut it about 99.99% of the time. Just because Martha can do it does not mean you can do it, okay?

Every Lubbock WalMart, KMart, Target, CVS, Walgreens and even the dollar stores are loaded up for Halloween. (FYI, the dollar stores DO have the good stuff, not just the old janky "Party Mix" consisting of the worst candy ever.)

Spirit Halloween Store here in Lubbock has a excellent selection of costumes for both high-end and thrifty shoppers, so use your head and trust me you will make it through the holiday with lunch money for the next week.

Now for those of you that are not hearing a word I have said and insist on "making" your own Halloween costumes for the kids, let me share this piece of my past with you.

Yes, both pics above are of me as a youngster and, yes, that is me as a Hip Hop Clown and the first Cowboy Vampire ever... complete with a horse belt buckle.

Sad, right?

I still have not forgiven my mother....
