Halloween is a week away and everyone is getting excited. Costumes are being prepared, trick or treat pails are being selected, and pounds of candy are entering each home in anticipation.

Not only is this holiday a favorite for many kids, but it’s also an exciting day for adults too. I loved trick or treating when I was little, but now I adore handing out candy to all of the excited kids and seeing the variety of fun costumes.

Halloween is also an exciting time because it is usually when we start to see a big change in the fall weather. The chill officially permeates the air during the day, rather than having a cold morning and a warm afternoon like we’ve had all last week.

Something about chilly weather makes Halloween even more enjoyable. At least that’s how I feel about it. I know plenty of kids disagree because it means covering up their awesome costume with a jacket.

Well, that will definitely be the case this year, because Lubbock is expecting potentially freezing temperatures this Halloween.

The day is currently forecasted to have a high in the low 50s and a low in the low 30s.

So, be sure to bundle up, grab some hot drinks, and stay nice and toasty while you enjoy trick or treating this year. If you want to avoid the cold, you might want to consider checking out one of the many great trunk or treat events that should be happening around town the weekend before Halloween.
