Both of the next superhero movies on Fox’s upcoming slate wrapped production this weekend, with the cast and crew of each sharing a few behind-the-scenes photos to celebrate.

There was a ton of speculation about who would be playing the much-hyped Cable in Deadpool 2, and as of today, we finally know it’s Josh Brolin. And while that’s fantastic news, it’s also a little confusing for those of us who have been following the whole Avengers: Infinity War saga: Josh Brolin is also playing Thanos in the upcoming Avengers movies.

Isn’t it just like Ryan Reynolds to upstage a colleague? After listening to critics sing the praises of Logan for the past few weeks, fans around the country took their seats on Friday night ready to watch Hugh Jackman strap on his metal claws one last time. And so it came as quite a surprise when the first superhero to appear onscreen wasn’t Wolverine but Deadpool, everyone’s favorite violent and profane superhero — and, if we’re being honest with each other, the entire reason an R-rated Wolverine movie was greenlit by 20th Century Fox.

Here’s something I’ve never been able to fully understand about myself: I find haunted house movies terribly boring and haunted space station movies absolutely terrifying. Take your typical spooky movie  —  with old buildings, dark hallways, and moving shadows  —  and I could fall asleep right there in the theater. But kick that spooky movie up into space and give the characters some space suits? As far as I’m concerned, that makes anything an instant classic — and I’ve got the Event Horizon ticket stubs to prove it.

It’s been a topsy-turvy week for awards prognosticators, relative even to the usual topsy-turviness of an industry based entirely on guesswork and speculation. Deadpool frightened and confused Oscar oddsmakers when it unexpectedly snatched up a Best Picture nomination from the Producers Guild Awards program on Tuesday, and then officially rejiggered everyone’s slate of predictions when director Tim Miller earned a nomination from the Directors Guild of America. What had been all but forgotten as a superhero oddball is staging a late-phase charge among the groups of professionals that vote for Oscar nominees — nothing is out of the question.

'I called Connor, 'Bubba'. And he called me 'Bubba2'. We met because he loved Deadpool," Reynolds wrote in a touching tribute to 13-year-old Connor McGrath.

Plus, the show's 25th broadcast will add two brand new categories.

Tim Miller’s R-rated adaptation of the beloved, foul-mouthed superhero was on track to make $60 million at the box office this weekend, but Deadpool is now expected to top that estimate as it has already begun breaking box office records for February. The Merc With a Mouth’s first solo outing is primed for the biggest R-rated movie opening of all time, as well as the biggest opening for a film released in the month of February.

We’re still waiting for more of an official update on what trailers we can expect to see during this year’s Super Bowl, but there’s one film that will definitely have a big presence at the game. Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With the Mouth will be on hand for the 2016 Super Bowl on February 7, with Fox planning some special preview content to run during and around the game. In addition, the studio has released a new clip, featuring Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead packing a serious punch.

Normally I would say that "The Change-Up" does look like the other "body switching" movies. Take "Freaky Friday" (Lindsay Lohan or Jodie Foster), "17 Again" (Zac Efron, Matthew Perry), or even "Shrek The Third" (Donkey and Puss switch bodies)...

It's gonna be a busy weekend at the movies with the long awaited release of The Green Lantern. Both kiddos and geeks will be batteling for seats for this one. Check out a couple trailers and behind the scenes here now.
