Both ‘Deadpool 2’ and ‘Dark Phoenix’ Wrap Production With Behind-the-Scenes Photos
Both of the next superhero movies on Fox’s upcoming slate wrapped production this weekend, with the cast and crew of each sharing a few behind-the-scenes photos to celebrate. First, Deadpool 2 is officially in post, and Ryan Reynolds shared a few photos on his Facebook page this Saturday.
Among the shots of him with his director and makeup team are two snaps of his katanas, which have “Bea” and “Arthur” embossed on the hilts. This is taken directly from the comics, where Wade Wilson named his swords after Golden Girls’ Bea Arthur, and Reynolds revealed back in April 2015 that the names would feature in the movie.
In his Facebook post, he also thanked his set directors and prop department for “riddling this film with Easter eggs in almost every scene,” so be on the lookout for a lot more Marvel comic references besides the names of those swords.
Elsewhere, X-Men: Dark Phoenix also wrapped on Sunday, with director Simon Kinberg posting a celebratory photo on his Instagram. The picture is mostly blurry except for his own back as he looks into his camera display, but you can just see a glowing blue X there in the bottom left corner. This was a pretty quick shoot of only a little more than three months, but we can probably expect a whole lot of special effects added in post.
Deadpool 2 opens in theaters June 1, 2018, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix follows on November 2, 2018.
