Lubbock Police Say South Plains Fair Shooting Threat Is ‘Baseless’
Lubbock Police have come out and said that a post on social media claiming there will be a shooting at the South Plains Fair is "baseless."
The post claimed that around 75 people were going to be shot at the fair.
KAMC News reached out to LPD Captain Ray Mendoza, who said that police were already familiar with the threat. He later said that it was very similar to a threat received by a local news outlet earlier in the week, but with the word "fair" added.
The South Plains Fair started with a special preview on Thursday, September 19th, 2019 with Buck-a-Ride night. The annual event runs through September 28th, 2019.
