The Mikael Experience: Preview Night at the South Plains Fair

Just like any other millennial I am just trying to work and live life to the fullest so I went out to the South Plains Fair's Buck a Ride Night to experience firsthand what it's like during preview night.

Come One, Come All!

Like many people from Lubbock I have gone out to the South Plains Fair multiple times throughout the years but never on preview night just because it's usually very busy. This year was different because I was joining our very own Renee Raven while she worked and did the radio thing like a complete and total pro (I'm always learning). While we were doing some radio breaks we decided to see if a nice vendor would sell us some drinks an hour early and we found some vendors who were kind enough to help us out.

Somethings in the Air

Renee, her daughter, and myself all walked around and did some sightseeing of all the food vendors, games, and of course rides. We were really impressed by all the people getting ready for all the foodies to descend upon the fairgrounds. We got our foot long corn dogs and took a seat at some of the new permanent shaded picnic tables that were just installed, amazing and a game changer for the fair. Then we enjoyed the cool breeze and got ready to people watch because we could tell that something was in the air, hunger and fun.

That's when it happened. A horde of people could be seen in the distance like something out of the Walking Dead but hungry for fried foods. Just a lot of people ready to get their grub on and ride all of the rides right after. If you have never been to preview night then this is your sign that you should go because it was honestly so much fun see the fair just come to life. It's obvious that the fair is fun because of the food, rides, and games but it's the people that bring life to the entire thing which is just beautiful to witness. Don't worry there is always next year's preview night or you can just go while the fair is here in Lubbock, until September 30, just don't forget the clear bag policy in place.

This series is about living life and experiencing new things that I myself have never personally done or am afraid to do because as a new person of 30 you are never too old to try. The next thing I will try for the first time is Lubbock's very own Nightmare on 19th Street.
