Lubbock ISD Recognizes Teacher of the Year Winners
Thursday night (May 11), two of the nine finalists were selected as the Lubbock ISD Teachers of the Year for 2017. Those two were Carol Alonzo and Kelly Baum.
Alonzo teaches audio/video production at the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center. She has been in her current position since 2010.
Baum teaches fourth grade at Waters Elementary School. She has been a teacher at Waters since 2012, and won the Waters Teacher of the Year award last year.
Both winners received $250 from Durham School Services, a pair of one-year movie passes provided by Alamo Drafthouse and new classroom furniture. The seven other finalists are: Lindsey Sobehrad, Joe Welborn, Graciela Cano, Melissa Durham, Dee Parham, Julio Hernandez and Terrell Hawkins.
