Steve Harvey Reportedly Cried After Staff Letter Leak
Following the leak of a memo in which Steve Harvey instructs his staff not to approach him in his dressing room, the TV host was reportedly in tears over the incident during the show's final production meeting before its move to Los Angeles.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, a source said that Harvey "was tearful...but not apologetic" in the meeting, while another called the "whole story overblown," adding that it "hasn't been a bad season and people weren't angry in the office. If morale is bad, it's because people will be out of a job, not because Steve treated them badly."
Meanwhile, Harvey reportedly did not attend the show's wrap party.
On Thursday, Harvey clarified his letter, telling ET, "I've always had a policy where, you know, you can come and talk to me. So many people are great around here, but some of them just started taking advantage of it. I'm in the hallway, I'm getting ambushed by people with friends that come to the show and having me sign this and do this. I just said, 'Wait a minute.' And in hindsight, I probably should've handled it a little bit differently."
"I just didn't want to be in this prison anymore where I had to be in this little room, scared to go out and take a breath of fresh air without somebody approaching me, so I wrote the letter," he continued. "I don't apologize about the letter, but it's kind of crazy what people who took this thing and ran, man."
