These 2 Grocery Store Chains Hate El Paso – Why?
Two gigantic, (one based in Texas), grocery store chains are expanding all over Texas but they want nothing to do with El Paso or San Antonio. WTH?
HEB and Aldi have a huge footprint in Texas and have even branched out beyond it; Aldi has stores is almost 40 states with 129 in Texas alone. HEB operates 343 stores, solely in Texas, and have now jumped the border into Mexico.
They avoid certain Texas cities like the plague though. What's up?
San Antonio has nearly 50 HEB's but they're clamoring for an Aldi and don't understand why they keep snubbing them. No offense SA but, don't be greedy ... you already have the most HEB stores in Texas.
Why No HEB In El Paso?
El Paso meanwhile has neither an Aldi nor an HEB. I don't give a **** about Aldi but, c'mon HEB. You're Texas born and Texas proud. You're spreading like wildfire across the lone star state.
Except for the 915. Jeez, we're the 6th largest city in Texas and we buy lots of groceries and stuff. What's up? Is it something we said?
No love for the 915
The nearest HEB to El Chuco is over 300 miles away in Lubbock. Really? Lubbock? They barely made the Texas top 10 ... freakin' Laredo almost beat 'em.

Is it because we're the only city in the mountain time zone? There's a reason for that. Is it all the lithium in the water? They make filters ... you probably sell them. Scared of Chico the Chihuahua? Don't be. I've met him. he's totally cool.
We share our cool stuff. The El Paso based "B Bars", (That's what I call them, they are B-17's, B-2's, B-52's and B-29's) will soon start "bombing" in Austin, Circle K started here and El Paso's own West Texas Chophouse opened up a Vegas location.
HEB snubbing us is bad enough, don't get me started on Buck-ees ...
