According to reports, the number of dogs being dumped around Lubbock County is continuing to increase. And for those who live out in the county, the news that more and more dogs are being dumped and abandoned does not come as a surprise.

Non-Profit Group Reports a Rise In Dumped Dogs

According to a report from KAMC, at least two Lubbock area non-profit groups have seen the number of abandoned dogs increase. According to the report, Operation Pawprints, a Lubbock nonprofit, claims that 10 to 15 dogs are left on the side of the road each day in Lubbock County. Some are found alive while others are found dead.

Non-Profits Warn Being Overrun With Stray Dogs

According to KAMC, the problem is so bad that some non-profits worry about being overrun with calls about abandoned dogs. And that shouldn't surprise anyone. Even the Lubbock Animal Shelter has had to deal with being full when it comes to abandoned and lost animals.

As someone who lives out in the county, I've seen first hand how many dogs are just tossed out like they are trash. It's very sad to see.

Watch for candidates running for Lubbock City Council to talk about the issue during the campaign season as many citizens have brought up concerns about dumped and dangerous animals.
