Is a Destiny’s Child Reunion in the Works?
If Beyonce‘s dad, Mathew Knowles, is to be believed, Destiny’s Child will record a new album soon. To quote the infamous girl-group, “I don’t think they can handle this!“
Knowles told The Huffington Post that his partnership between Music World and Sony will put some previously-unreleased DC tracks on an upcoming compilation record. “We still have our joint venture with Sony, and in November, we’re putting out two Destiny’s Child catalog records with new material,” Knowles said.
Now for the inevitable question: Will a reunion tour happen too? That’s one that Knowles, who no longer manages Queen Bey (nor Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland), can’t quite answer just yet — but he’s pretty optimistic about it.
“It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it starts with the artist wanting to do it,” Knowles said, “And I think the ladies are still working happily in their solo careers. And I hope in the next five years that there is a reunion tour. I think it would be incredible.”
One of the toughest parts of organizing the tour isn’t just juggling all of the demanding schedules of Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle. It’s also narrowing down what hits to perform! “The hardest thing would be choosing which songs they’re going to do, because we would want to mix it up with solo hits and Destiny’s Child hits,” Knowles lamented. “We would have to throw away some No. 1′s from off the set list.”
The trio has been busy as bees since their breakup. Beyonce launched a solo career that made her into a living legend and had beautiful baby girl Blue Ivy. Kelly hit No. 1 with Lil Wayne on ‘Motivation’ and is looking to repeat the success with ‘Ice,’ while also nabbing a judging spot on ‘X Factor‘ U.K. Michelle has been a success on Broadway and in her own gospel career, as in addition to getting ready to launch her own clothing line.
Hopefully this reunion will fare better than all of the Spice Girls‘ efforts!
