Justin Bieber Cited for Speeding, Witness Says He Should Have Been Arrested
Someone’s not a Belieber and it’s L.A. City Councilman Dennis Zine.
Justin Bieber was apparently trying to elude the paparazzi and get them off his back while driving on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles in his swagged out Fisker Karma. The car may be environmentally responsible, but apparently its driver isn’t highway cautious! The Biebs was cited for speeding, having hit the 80mph mark. The witness who called 911 to dime him out was Zine, a former LAPD motor officer who believes that the ‘Boyfriend’ singer should have been arrested and stripped of his driving privileges.
That’s a little harsh, no?
Well, if you believe Zine’s account of the Biebs’ driving, the teen was blasting down the Hollywood Freeway at a dangerous speed of over 100 mph. While we’re not sure how Zine could’ve clocked the Biebs, unless he has leftover equipment from his highway days, he did tell TMZ that the singer was “driving like a maniac. He was weaving in and out of traffic. There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane.”
Yikes. That sounds like a recipe for an accident.
Zine continued, “If I was on patrol, I would have arrested him for reckless driving. I was going 60 and he drove by me like he was in a rocket ship. He was a maniac.” But Zine wasn’t just targeting Bieber. He said the paps were equally as dangerous with their driving, riding on the shoulder and swarming the kid in his vehicle.
Scooter Braun, Bieber’s manager, weighed in, saying that Zine is just looking for a headline. He did confirm that his charge was cited for doing 80 mph because of the paparazzi chase. Even after receiving a ticket, the paparazzi continued their hot pursuit and JB called 911. Cops arrived on the scene, warning the paps to chill.
Be careful on the roads, Biebs. Maybe try to drive a more inconspicuous set of wheels when you are in L.A. since a tricked out, chromed Fisker Karma isn’t exactly a car that you can blend in with! And give the kid a break, paps! We’re glad no one was hurt. We don’t need another Princess Diana–type accident. Remember, she perished in a Paris tunnel with the paparazzi hot on her trail.
