While there are plenty of businesses you can hire to do your lawn care, some people can’t afford it, or simply decide they don’t want to deal with it. So, you are left with an overgrown yard, often full of weeds.

you might be okay with your lawn looking like that, but the City of Lubbock has different ideas. If you have an overgrown lawn or weds reaching over eight inches on or adjacent to your property, the city can hire someone to trim your lawn and clear the weeds, and send you the bill for the service.

Lubbock homeowners are responsible for the maintenance of their property from the curb in front of the house all the way to the middle of the alley outside of the fence-line. This means that you also have to keep the alley behind your home clear of weeds unless you want to receive that bill in the mail if they call someone to take care of it for you.

Your neighbors can also report your property via the Online Citizen Help Portal. So, I suggest doing your best to maintain your lawn so you don’t end up with a surprise bill in the mail.
