Record Store Day started in 2008 with just a few independent record stores. It has since blossomed and expanded to include its own version of Black Friday. But instead of drastic mark-downs, you get something more special- exclusivity. When you buy a RSD exclusive vinyl or CD you have something pretty special and something that can't just be ordered on Amazon. It can be bought that day and that day alone.

After the huge success of Ralph's Records Metallica Release Party,  my friend Chris assured me they will be doing more and more events. RSD will be special indeed with vinyl picture disks, exclusive 7", and more.

Here's a list of some of the possible titles Ralph's will have on hand. It's a diverse list that music lovers of all types will be drooling over. As for myself, I'm particularly interested in the Amanda Palmer string covers of David Bowie songs (and Purple Rain on the B Side).

So while you're out braving the madness (or if you want to avoid it all together) be sure to stop by Ralph's to get the best gifts you can for the vinyl enthusiasts in your life (or for yourself, of course)

Here's some pics from the Metallica Release Party, which had well over a hundred people in attendance:
