‘Wonder Woman 2’ Will Now Be Released a Whole Six Weeks Earlier
Great news, everyone! (And we really could use some great news in the midst of this recent trash fire of a news cycle, right?) Warner Bros., in its infinite wisdom, has decided to move the release date of Wonder Woman 2 up by over a month — which means we’ll get to see the continuation of Diana’s adventures in the realm of totally unworthy men a little bit sooner than previously expected.
How much sooner? According to The Hollywood Reporter, that’d be six weeks. Warner Bros. has moved Wonder Woman 2 up from its original December 13, 2019 release date to November 1, 2019. It’s still two years away, but it’s still good news nonetheless. WB made the move after Disney and Lucasfilm pushed Star Wars: Episode IX back to December 20, 2019 to accommodate J.J. Abrams’ schedule following his return to the franchise when Colin Trevorrow departed.
Gal Gadot will (obviously) return to reprise the titular role in the Wonder Woman sequel, with Patty Jenkins also returning to the director’s chair. Jenkins negotiated a record-breaking paycheck for the follow-up to this year’s box office hit, which has now grossed over $821.7 million worldwide. WB recently launched an Oscar campaign for Wonder Woman, which is the best-reviewed superhero film of all time (according to the results of a Rotten Tomatoes analysis).
Gadot can be seen next in Justice League, which hits theaters on November 17.
