Delving Into The Mysterious World Of Carnivorous Plants
Some people have a green thumb when it comes to plants but some others have a butchers thumb when it comes to plants. This is because there a specific set of plants that are unlike any and actually eat meat.
Those plants are carnivorous and tend to be sold as a gimmick for those that find them interesting and want to watch them eat prey. The most popular plant sold on the market is known as the venus fly try trap and tends to have an insect trigger the hairs inside the mouthlike leaves. Once triggered they close in on the insect trapping it inside and dissolving the body of the insect. Not all carnivorous plants are the same as there are pitcher plants that trap prey in their watery insides and sundews that trap food on it's glistening petals.
You can usually order these hungry plants online or find them in stores like Home Depot or Lowe's. One store in particular is showcasing their variety of recently received carnivorous plants to show people they're not that difficult to care for. The Dutch House of Plants is a plant lovers paradise and can give people some tips on how to keep their carnivorous plants alive.
You cannot water them with any water but instead try rain water and distilled water while letting the carnivorous plant pot soak in the water. Most carnivorous plants are used to thriving in marshy biomes and being in watery soil that has no nutrition to offer the plant. Also do not repot the plant in any soil but instead use a sphagnum moss and pearlite mixture to help keep the moisture in because carnivorous plants get their nutrients from their prey and don't need it from the soil.
