How to Avoid Mosquitos in Texas This Spring

The warmer weather has hit Texas early this year, which means grass is growing, trees are blooming, and mosquitos will be swarming before you know it.

While spring is probably my favorite season, the one thing I can’t stand are all the mosquitos that start popping up and looking for someone to sink their nasty little mouths into. Not only is their buzzing obnoxious, but their itchy bites are a pain to deal with.

One of the most important things you can do is avoid having any standing water around your home. They will lay their eggs in it and cause your whole yard to be a blood thirsty breeding ground. Gross!

The only bummer is that standing water can be hard to avoid once the rainy season hits. So, what else is there to do?

Plant a mosquito repelling garden!

There are a variety of plants that mosquitos hate and humans love. From herbs that are great to use in cooking, to beautiful flowers, these strong-smelling plants are a mosquito’s nightmare.

Whether you plant them in a flower bed, or keep a few pots around your yard, the following plants can be easy to grow, fun to keep, and great to keep those pesky bugs at bay. So, before the mosquitos start making your yard their home for the spring, deter them by planting some of these mosquito repelling plants.

An extra bonus is that many of these plants also repel ticks, fleas, and other pesky bugs.
