Trans-Siberian Orchestra is coming to Lubbock November 26th for what promises to be an unforgettable holiday concert experience. If you are unfamiliar with TSO, watch their epicness here.

However, TSO co-founder and renowned electric violinist Mark Wood will be here sooner, as part of his "Electrify Your Strings" music education experience for orchestra students. Area students will have a workshop experience with Wood before performing with him.

(One of those students is Damien Stone, one of my precious babies from Nightmare of 19th Street. By that I mean he is the terrifying actor that inhabits the finale sequence of Blood Moon Manor. What can I say? I'm proud!)

Wood, along with the Texas Tech University Symphony Orchestra and 1,300 student musicians from the Lubbock Independent School District, the Youth Orchestras of Lubbock, All Saints Episcopal School and the TTU String Project, will perform a concert together at 2 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 19) at the South Plains Fairgrounds Coliseum.

As per a press release from Texas Tech School of Music: "Selections during the concert will include Wood’s arrangements of several hits – listen for the familiar tunes – and a closing number that will combine the forces of all the musicians who participated in the workshop."

The press release used the words "shred" and "rock n roll" a lot, so anticipate a bit of fun and edge to the performance.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and can be purchased at all Select-a-Seat outlets.
