Top 10 Songs Texas Tech Football Should Use to Enter The Jones

We need traditions. We need some stuff straight outta left field. We need the Red Raiders to rock!

If you didn't hear, the crowd was so loud when Virginia Tech came out to "Enter Sandman" that it registered on a seismograph. We could do that kind of thing in Lubbock, too. All we need is someone to step up and say, "we're doing this thing."

Sorry, whatever hip-hop flavor of the day is not going to have that energy of a hard rock track. In fact, I can't think of any song from any genre other than rock that has the energy to get the crowd and the team to go nuts.

I know I have three mega-contenders here with the first three. I think there's something to be said for the rest as well. So imagine if you will the Red Raiders posted up at the exit of the tunnel ready to come out and one of these songs starts playing. Let's do this thing!

Metallica, "Seek & Destroy"
This is NOT biting Virginia Tech's style. If you remember the Red Raiders special teams actually used to use this track. They should adopt it as their entrance music.

Guns N' Roses, "Welcome to the Jungle"
If you want the epicness of Metallica, a fantastic build, and a song that the whole stadium can sing, then look no further than this.

Drowning Pool, "Bodies"
People use this song when they go to real-life war. We've seen it used in some very scary situations. *Bonus* With the band being from Texas, it's a natural fit.

Avenged Sevenfold, "Nightmare"
We are starting to drift from songs that are immediate sing-a-longs to tracks that would just rule, but the extended version of Nightmare would offer several big pops to launch the team into Jones Stadium

Mudvayne, "Dig"
This track doesn't give the team a bunch of buildup, it's just an immediate bang (or sprong-sprong). The team would have to use the edited version, but there's no denying the energy of the track.

Megadeth, "Symphony of Destruction"
How do you combat Metallica? The answer is with Megadeth. The track is more of a slow burn, but it would get the job done.

Slipknot, "Wait & Bleed"
I went through the Slipknot library and nearly settles on Duality or Psychosocial but Wait & Bleed has that nice build-up before it pops off.

Rage Against the Machine, "Renegades of Funk"
This one should probably be higher on the list, because the word "renegade" just seems like it should be connected with "Raider" somehow. The song also has some of the best opening lyrics ever, "No matter how hard you try you can't stop us now". That's some perfect football stuff right there.

Black Sabbath, "War Pigs"
This track offers so many possibilities. I just wonder how the home crowd will do with that whole Satan verse at the end.

Disturbed, "Down With the Sickness"
This has a nice build, a nice release and I think the crowd could be taught to love it.
