Three Cars You Don’t See Around Lubbock Much Anymore
I am a fan of old school vehicles, being that once upon a time I owned a 1988 Pontiac Grand Am.
But I have noticed that certain cars are now as rare as Unicorns in Lubbock, especially in the case of two of the three I am going to show you.
3. Pontiac Aztek
This was often known as one of the ugliest cars of the early 2000's. Doug DeMuro at Autotrader.Com had this to say about the Aztek:
So, just to be clear, we're talking about a wildly unattractive car with an underpowered engine and bizarre styling, hailing from a rather dark period at General Motors, with an intentionally misspelled name. It has all the trappings of one of the worst cars manufactured in the modern era. And yet...
I think it's kind of cool.
I have to agree, it was ugly when it came out and now it is considered cool. I used to see quite a few of these hanging around Lubbock, but no so much anymore. Is this an ugly car?
2. Chevrolet Celebrity
This was a common mid-size car throughout the 1980's. GM sold millions of these as the Celebrity, Pontiac 6000 and others. At one point this was America's best selling car. I knew quite a few people in high school and college who had one. But this car is hard to spot in the wilds of West Texas!
1. 1987-1993 Ford Mustang (Fox Body)
This was the sports car everyone wanted to own in the late 80's and early 90's, myself included. All the cool kids, including Vanilla Ice had one. These are now very desirable vehicles fetching HUGE prices, but I can't tell you when I last saw one in Lubbock. (If anyone has a Blue on Grey two-tone from that era, call me!)
