You may have heard that the coronavirus is still going around and that we are still in a pandemic. You may have also heard debate in recent weeks about whether or not people who received the COVID-19 shot would need a booster. The answer to the last question is yes, booster shots are needed and now Lubbock is prepared to start doing them.

The City of Lubbock's Public Health Department announced on Sunday that beginning on Wednesday, October 27, booster shots will be made available to certain individuals that qualify. The booster shots will be administered at the mini-hub vaccination site located at 2801 50th Street which is located in Caprock Center.

Booster shots for Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Johnson & Johnson will be available for those who received their first set of shots six months ago. According to the Public Health Department for the City of Lubbock, the following groups are eligible for boosters if they completed the "primary series" of shots 6 months ago or longer.

Note: The Moderna COVID-19 booster dose is half of the dose that is administered for the primary series dose.

Booster shots are also recommended for individuals 18+ who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine two or more months ago.
