Residents of Harris County in Texas will be eligible to receive a free $100 under an expansion of the new incentive rules. According to click2houston.com, Harris County Judge Linda Hidalgo announced that the incentive program had been working in the county as the number of people vaccinated has increased.

Harris County Judge Linda Hidalgo told the news site that 70% of the eligible population had gotten at least one dose while 58% of the population overall haven't had the first dose.

She said the county is expanding the program to make it easier for residents to get the $100 for receiving the vaccine at any facility in Harris County by checking in with ReadyHarris.org. Hidalgo said residents can claim the $100 regardless of providers, such as pharmacy or doctor.

She asked for residents to visit the site to submit their claim for the 100 cash card or virtual card. Those who apply will be asked for their name, email, phone number and the place they received the vaccine.

Those who would like to participate in the initiative will have until Aug. 31 to get their first vaccine to receive the money.

Harris County is one of many counties across the United States offering incentives for employees and residents alike if they get vaccinated. The spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19 has renewed a push to get more and more people vaccinated throughout the United States.
