Original story:

An accident involving a school bus was reported in Lubbock Thursday morning. Police were alerted to an accident around 6:40 a.m. at FM and County Road 2500.

Everything Lubbock reported that there's currently no word on whether or not there are  injuries as a result of the accident this morning, but they posted several photos from the scene. It's unclear how many vehicles were involved, but the photos lead one to believe a semi-truck was present

This is an ongoing investigation, and we will update this post when more information is available.

School buses do not typically have seatbelts in them, so when an accident involving a school bus full of kids appears in the news, there's always cause for concern. I remember wondering why we didn't have to buckle up on the bus.

Apparently you only have to wear a seatbelt on the bus in Texas if it weighs under 10,000 pounds, according to an article published by The New York Times. Some schools are also underfunded and seatbelts on buses are not their main priority.

Riding the bus as a kid, I remember sharp turns that set kids out of their seats and into the aisle, as well as sitting on the back of the bus and being literally launched into the air when we hit a pot hole.

We certainly hope all of the passengers involved in this incident are okay and that the damage was minimal.
