Pet-Friendly Lubbock Businesses You Can Take your Dog To

As a pet parent, especially a dog owner, there will always come a moment when you wonder where you can take your pet with you around town. Thankfully, there are actually quite a lot of pet-friendly business all around Lubbock, including some you might not expect.

A business has their choice of whether they allow pets into their shop. While many places opt-out, some spots love having furry-friends around and allow you to bring your pet with you while you shop.

It is important to keep in mind the difference between a pet and a service animal.

A service animal is legally considered a lifesaving medical device that is approved by the ADA to accompany their owner (aka the person they are assisting) into any public space. This includes grocery stores, restaurants, and other businesses. This excludes emotional support animals, as the animal is not trained to perform a specific task to assist their owner, making them not a service animal.

If your dog is not a service animal, then they are classified as a pet and are not given the right into a business, unless the store policy specifies that pets are allowed. Of course, it is still expected that your pet be on a leash and well-behaved while in the store as to not create any problems for other customers.

There are certain businesses that everyone expects to be pet friendly, like pet shops or home improvement centers. However, there are some businesses that might surprise you with their pet policy.

I did some hunting and found nearly 20 different businesses in Lubbock that allow you to bring your pet inside. Some are chains that have a company-wide policy allowing pets, but others vary from store-to-store. So, I double-checked and called any that were uncertain to make sure.
