The Lubbock Police Department is currently investigating a deadly shooting at a local apartment complex that left one man dead.

According to news reports and an LPD press release, the shooting occurred at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 at the Somerset Square Apartments, located at 5301 11th Street.

When police arrived at the apartment unit in question, they discovered the body of 26-year-old Nathaniel Bloedel in an upstairs bedroom. Police determined that he had died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police made contact with 25-year-old Kaitlin Ehrhart, who was standing outside the apartment when officers arrived. It's reported that Ehrhart was the one who called policed and told them she accidentally shot Bloedel, her boyfriend, during an argument.

Ehrhart claimed she accidentally shot Bloedel while trying to wrestle a gun away from him, but details of the incident are still unclear and under investigation. She was voluntarily taken to the LPD's Metro Special Crimes Unit office for further questioning, where she was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

She is currently being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
