One Local Restaurant Closes Its Doors, While Another Opens

One thing is inevitable in Lubbock. Businesses come, and they go.

This first one came as a shock to me, and I have to thank my friend Sarah Self-Walbrick over at the A-J for this one.

If you love la Madeleine French Bakery & Cafe, well, bad news. The 19th street location, which opened in 2013, closed this last week without warning or a reason why. I drove by on Sunday and, yep, it was closed.

But lovers of the strawberry Napoleon, don't fret: the location on 82nd Street is still open.

And in business opening news, Mar Y Tierra will be opening on Monday, February 5th in the former Mama Fu's location at 2531 82 St.

Mar Y Tierra will be serving up gourmet Mexican specialties in a really cool looking environment. Be sure to check them out and support local businesses!
