Another Earthquake Felt in Lubbock, Stronger Than Monday’s
This seems to be the week of earthquakes here in West Texas as Lubbock was once again shaking on Friday, July 26, 2024.
We just felt an earthquake in Lubbock on Monday, July 22, 2024. It reached a 4.9-magnitude with its epicenter located west of Abilene, Texas, near Hermleigh, Texas. There were also two additional aftershocks that reached around 3.1 magnitude each. These aftershocks were felt as far away as Amarillo and Austin, with more aftershocks occurring into Tuesday morning.
Feeling an earthquake in West Texas is an uncommon occurrence in and of itself, but having two in one week is extra rare.
The quake felt in Lubbock on Friday morning reached a 5.0-magnitude with the epicenter located near Hermleigh, Texas once again.
It happened at 9:28 a.m. and This quake was also felt as far as Amarillo and Austin again, with some folks near Lawton, Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas also reporting that they felt it as well.
More information is sure to come in regards to aftershocks, damages, and more. Hopefully it is a similar occurrence to Monday, with no injuries.
