Construction has been completed on the new animal shelter out on South Loop 289 and Guava Ave. The ribbon cutting ceremony was yesterday and from what I've seen it's a beautiful facility. Though the city tried to find a location for the shelter that would be easier for people to get to, nearby residents always protested, so this new location is just as far away from most people as the old one, however it should be much easier to find since it's right along the loop. They hope to have dogs and cat's moved over and ready for adoption in a month or so, but if you're looking for a pet in the mean time, there's always the current shelter out at 401 N. Ash Ave.
