Matt Wells Is All-In On Face Masks So He Can Coach Football

The effectiveness of face masks debate is in full force on social media lately, with every COVID-19 post devolving into arguments and counterpoints to the efficacy of a piece of cloth covering your mouth and nose.

Now, Texas Tech's head football coach has weighed in on the conversation with a Twitter challenge, posting himself wearing a mask with the hashtag #FaceMasks4FallSports.

In the challenge, college football coaches are asking each other to post pictures of themselves in their face masks, often decorated by the logos of their respective schools.

Of course, just because Wells and Texas Tech are all-in on face masks, that doesn't mean the City of Lubbock is. If it's the difference between fall sports and no fall sports, would that make a difference in your mask-wearing decision? The football team announced double-digit coronavirus cases last week, but have no plans to stop the voluntary workouts this summer.

It's not just college football that's on the cusp of shuttering as coronavirus cases continue to pile up. All collegiate and UIL athletics are in danger if the pandemic's numbers don't improve.
