"Man of Steel" (PG-13)

This complete reboot of the Superman franchise has no connection to 2006's "Superman Returns". It stars Henry Cavill as your new Superman and jumps straight to General Zod as the main villain.

Zod is played by Michael Shannon from "Boardwalk Empire". (But Zod's obviously not the only super-powered villain Superman has to fight. You can watch a video of him getting manhandled by a female Kryptonian here.)

The movie is directed by Zack Snyder, the guy who did "300", "Watchmen", and the "Dawn of the Dead" remake. It also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. Sadly, there's no Jimmy Olsen in this one.

Russell Crowe plays Superman's Kryptonian dad Jor-El . . . while his Earth parents are played by Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. "Law & Order: SVU's" Christopher Meloni and "The West Wing's" Richard Schiff are also in it.

"This is the End" (R)

Seth Rogen co-wrote and helped direct this comedy where he and his actor friends react to the world coming to an end during a party at James Franco's house. The main cast includes Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, and Craig Robinson.

A ton of other celebrities appear in it, including Emma Watson, Michael Cera, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, and even the Backstreet Boys, who are all playing themselves in the movie.

Seth says it all started as a short film that he made back in 2006, quote, "[It] just had me and Jay stuck in a house as the world was ending . . . the idea just kind of stuck with us over the years . . . and we just kept making it crazier and weirder until we thought we should actually try to make it."
