South Plains Mall Shooting Suspect Arrested by Lubbock Police
Two Lubbock residents have been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place at the South Plains Mall on New Year's Eve.
Thirty-year-old Detrick Montgomery was arrested in the 9400 block of Boston on two warrants for Aggravated Assault and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Twenty-five-year-old Victoria York was arrested on charges of Hindering Apprehension.
The original incident took place inside the Footaction store inside the mall, but moved out into the mall common areas. This is when Montgomery pulled a weapon and began firing it.
According to a statement the South Plains Mall gave to Everything Lubbock:
We want to reiterate that this was an isolated incident that stemmed from a domestic disturbance, and that there is no concern by the Lubbock Police Department about the level of safety at the South Plains Mall.
