Sad news from Lubbock's Growler USA (6030 Marsha Sharp Freeway). The taphouse's owners have just announced that they're closing the doors for good on August 1st, 2020.

Their Facebook post on Sunday, July 19th talks about the hardships they've faced in recent weeks due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Bars have been especially hard hit with shutdowns. Growler USA, a success in many cities, was a relatively brand new in Lubbock; the location celebrated its grand opening last August.

Here's what Growler USA Lubbock announced on their Facebook page:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that August 1st will the our last day open at Growler USA. We fought as long as we could but Covid and the governors orders have taken their toll. We thank everyone for your loyalty and support over the last year and hope to see you in these next 2 weeks as we empty all of the kegs.

When they referred to COVID-19 hardships, I had to double-check to see if they'd been listed as an exposure site. They had not. Other Lubbock bars and restaurants have had to temporarily close and invest in extra deep cleaning in the face of a June COVID-19 outbreak.

All of our Lubbock businesses need our support during this difficult time.

It can really be hard to ramp back up after something like a pandemic, especially for a newer business. The economic hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic have left many businesses devastated. It's awful to see those who can't pull through. We do hope the owners will find a way to reopen eventually, or launch another business.

Growler USA has a solid name for themselves with many locations across the country, including Texas. Locations in Texas include Katy, in the Houston area, as well as Austin. They're getting set to open in Odessa soon. Additionally, they are preparing to add another location in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

We have until August 1st to support the Lubbock taphouse with a visit. They have many customers who love them and have posted their disappointment and sad comments on the closing post on their Facebook page.

They need help emptying their kegs and have slashed prices on their craft beer, so stop in for the Growler USA experience in Lubbock before they close their doors. We're sad to see them close, and wish them the very best.
