What could possibly make this year’s VMAs better for Lil Wayne fans? Well, not only is the rapper going to be performing during the ceremony, but he also announced that he will release ‘Tha Carter IV’ to all digital retailers, including iTunes and Amazon, at midnight following the VMAs, which will air this Sunday on MTV.

‘Tha Carter IV’, which was originally scheduled to be released in June, will be issued online ahead of the physical retail date. Weezy said “I am extremely excited to be the first artist to utilize such an amazing idea. I hope that I can open the door for others.”

This will be will be Wayne’s first album since his release from prison last November. ‘Tha Carter IV’ will be available in stores a few hours after the digital release.
