Kliff Kingsbury Says Nic Shimonek Is Doing Well in 2017
Coach Kingsbury spoke to the media this week about how his team has played so far, in particular he talked about his quarterback Nic Shimonek and how he's performed.
"He's doing well. Protected the ball well. Been under some adverse situations the last couple weeks. We haven't protected very well. I thought he was throwing the ball very effectively," Kingsbury said during a press conference ahead of Texas Tech's away game against Kansas. "He's just going to get better. It's only his fourth start, and I'm proud of the way he's played so far, and we'll just keep getting better each week."
So much has been said about Shimonek being a 5th year player that it's easy to forget this is his first season to start competitive games since high school.
Shimonek has also displayed solid leadership. Kingsbury said: "Yeah, he's what you want. A tough young man, doesn't get rattled, ever. Very emotional, the hardest worker on our team, so he kind of leads by example, and he's got a fiery side to him as well."
Hopefully, Shimonek and the offense can bounce back this Saturday (Oct. 7) against the Kansas Jayhawks.
