Long John Silver’s Celebrates First Anniversary at Its Amarillo Location

Can you believe it has been a year since Long John Silver's returned to Amarillo? After a 6-year absence in Amarillo, this popular restaurant chain opened a new location at 4406 Bell St. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10 am.

A Grand Opening Amarillo Won't Forget

Amarillo residents went insane. The line went from the restaurant down Bell Street to Fulton, and then it curved back into the residential areas. During the grand opening, people waited for hours in line just to get their fried fish and chicken fix from Long John Silver's. Amarillo once again was making waves across the country for the response to Long John Silver's opening up in town.  Those who aren't from the area thought we all were crazy. 

The Line That Wouldn't Quit

The lines stayed this long for weeks after the opening. People were so excited to have Long John Silver's back in Amarillo.

The Cult Following Behind the Comeback

The love for Long John Silver's in Amarillo was real; there were Facebook groups created for people wishing and wanting LJS back in the Yellow City. On any given day, someone who traveled out of Amarillo to a city with a Long John Silver's would post a picture of the LJS deliciousness on a local restaurant review page, just to make everyone jealous.

There is just something about Long John Silver's. It could be the battered chicken planks or fish. It could be the hushpuppies, or it could be the crumbs, crumbles, and crunchies of the fried batter that dripped off into the fryer. There's just something about that batter.

Could More Locations Be Coming?

We reached out to Long John Silver's corporate and asked whether we'll see another LJS in Amarillo soon. A spokesperson for Long John Silver's told us,

Nothing planned yet, but we will let you know if things change.

One Year Later

In honor of Long John Silver's first anniversary in Amarillo, should we all go line up on Bell Street? Nah, but go dive in and have lunch or dinner there today. Enjoy all the chicken, fish, and crunchies you can handle.
