One day after a tornado was confirmed north of Abilene, the region looks like it will be targeted once again by severe weather starting Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service is expecting storms to begin firing up in the afternoon Friday and both the South Plains and Big Country should be prepared for severe weather. Even the Texas Panhandle could see storms develop today.

The National Weather Service in Lubbock is warning of a "marginal" to "slight" risk of severe weather on Friday. More severe thunderstorms could include large hail, damaging winds, and the possibility of a tornado.

The National Weather Service in San Angelo is warning of severe weather for its area, which includes Abilene, San Angelo, Sweetwater, and Brownwood. As of this morning, the NWS expects storms to begin sometime after 3pm. A large area including Abilene, San Angelo, Sweetwater, and Sterling City are included in the "Enhanced Risk" zone. There is a risk of heavy thunderstorms, very large hail, and more tornados.

And In the Amarillo area, the National Weather Service is warning of scattered thunderstorms Friday night into Saturday with the main threats being strong winds and large hail. Isolated storms could pop up late this afternoon.

These storms could also lead to flash flooding and dangerous road conditions.
