Today, we're going to source the best cheeseburger from people who make food a competitive sport.

There is something special about cheeseburgers. Heck, even Jimmy Buffett wrote "Cheeseburgers In Paradise" about delicious hot beef with melty cheese on top. You may think all of this is a "no, duh" kind of thing, but no one celebrates chiliburgers, bacon burgers, or even regular burgers as much as cheeseburgers. Cheese plus burger is just the perfect collabo.

I'm going to admit that I'm a sucker for Whataburger, Sonic, and Wendy's, but sometimes the best burgers are made at one-of-a-kind, local places.

Lubbock Locals Crown the Best Cheeseburgers in Town

I've written about burgers in Lubbock a number of times, but this time I wanted the opinion of real local experts. I turned to the crew at LBK Foodies online and asked for the best local burgers. Also, I didn't give them much time, but in about 30 minutes, I had over 80 recommendations from some of the most discriminating pallettes around.

So the results are in, and they go like this:

1. Bonus Burger

“Bonus Burger!!! ❤️” — Liz Lawson Clanton
This old-school favorite came up again and again — clearly a local legend.

2. Christakis

“Christakis. I haven’t had Bonus Burger, Wrecked, and a couple others.” — John Baucum
So many people swore by it, and even the folks listing other places almost always included Christakis.

3. Jim Dandy

“Bro! Jim Dandy’s hit hard! Just a good old fashioned greasy ass burger ” — Nigel Baldwin
The love for this no-frills, cash-only joint is strong — and so are the portions.

4. Miss Ann’s Classic Diner

“Miss Ann’s and Blue Sky” — Kaymi Franco
Known for classic diner charm, Miss Ann’s inspired tons of shoutouts.

5. Wrecked Burgers & Brews

“Wrecked burgers, the Big Mac daddy is my favorite” — Emma Robinson
Their inventive burger lineup clearly has fans — and the name sticks.

Among the other answers were Jumbo Joe's, Tommy's, the Cooper Drive-In, Caprock Café, Shotzy’s Bar & Grill, Nirvana Burger, Pete’s on East 34th, Tastee Burger, Triple J Chophouse-Brewery, and more. There were also some places that may or may not be chains.  Also, Blue Sky was mentioned a number of times, but I can't quite figure out if they should be identified as a chain or not.

If these choices don't suit you, join LBK Foodies and check out more of their recommendations — you might just discover your new favorite burger.
