It's A Fun Time For Fans And Newbs

Lubbock's annual Anime event returns February 2nd through 4th at the MCM Elegante Hotel. The event features voice actors, art, merch, a LOT of cosplay and more. It really is a different scene and yes, it's a little hard to believe that something this cool and this niche is happening in Lubbock. I've personally made the circuit and it was fun.

So What Is Anime?

Anime is technically animation originating from Japan. Most anime is heavily influenced by Japanese culture but these days it can come from anywhere. It is really a style more than anything else and it's one of those things that when you see it, you know what it is.  It got a foothold with shows like Sailor Moon and Pokemon and grew like crazy from that point. Anime is pretty mainstream these days, especially among younger animation fans.

This Years Event

This years event will feature a cosplay photo room, like combat with Halcyon Knights, a and a chill zone with drinks for adults. There will also be an Anime rave, panels, and a ton more (there's even a quiet room if you need a break). It should be a packed weekend for fans.

The Hookup

We are so pleased to be just a tiny part of this event and it has been so fun watching it grow. It has not only become a great "Lubbock" thing, but people from all over travel to Lubbock for this very special weekend.
