There are those that say bottled water is actually worse for you than tap. but are they right? The answer is yes, and no, but not necessarily in the way that you might think.

Bottled water is clean filtered water as advertised. It is not, however, always from some magical forest spring surrounded by furry woodland creatures. In fact most of the time it is just local tap water that has been put through a monster filtering system. That  by itself is not a bad thing. But when they are trying to sell you the concept of island volcano distilled uber clean water that is a billion times superior to your local tap, that is a bad thing.

Typically most tap water is just as good as the bottle. Except in Lubbock. Lubbock's water isn't unhealthy, per se, but to a lot of people is really doesn't taste good.

So what do us Lubbockites do about our bad tasting tap water, without having to spend literally 2,000 times on the bottled stuff?

Simple, there are other "bottled" options that are much cheaper than individual bottles, and much better tasting than the tap.

Try any of our local water purification companies. They take our local tap water and for a few dollars a month filter it in your house to make it taste good. I've had systems that just filtered the kitchen sink water so I could get bottled water from my own tap. I've even had a filter system run from my kitchen sink to my refrigerator, through its filter and it was super clean!

Give any of our local companies a try:

Or you can do what I do now, which is have one of those 5 gallon workplace water systems in my house. I go and refill the 5 gallon bottle at any number of local places like Lowe's, or those Watermill places, for only $1.25! That's right $1.25 and the drinking water lasts me a week or more.

So if you really want good clean drinking water, but don't want trash the planet, or pay through the nose for something that falls from the sky for free, these are just a few options for you to try.
