If you ever saw National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, you probably remember Clark Griswold's blindingly glorious Christmas lights. And for those of you who are pragmatic thinkers, you may have thought about how expensive his light bill would be.

In Texas, if you used incandescent lights (like Clark surely did back in 1989), your light bill would be a whopping $3,019, just for the 25,000 lights stapled to your house. If you switched to modern LED lights, your bill would sharply decline to a downright reasonable $35.

As you may have guessed, Texas is one of the least expensive states to light up the entire neighborhood with one house. The most expensive is, of course, Hawaii.
