On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, the City of Lubbock released the most recent numbers on the Coronavirus.

The city confirmed 37 new cases of COVID-19. That brings the total number of cases in Lubbock County up to 367 as of April 15th. The total number of deaths reported remains at 25. 89 people have recovered from the virus. 253 cases are still listed as active.

The city will have their 2nd weekly press conference on the Coronavirus on Thursday, April 16, at 11:30 a.m. It will be live-streamed on the city’s Facebook page and on the city’s website.

In related news, the City of Lubbock is in talks to open a 3rd drive-through testing site for COVID-19 within city limits.

University Medical Center opened the first Lubbock testing site on March 20th and Covenant Medical Center followed suit on April 6th by opening a testing site of their own.

City Manager Jarrett Atkinson said in a Lubbock City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 14, that a 3rd testing site is planned for South-Central Lubbock.
