Coldplay Reveals Title, Release Date and Artwork for New Album, ‘Mylo Xyloto’
By leader Chris Martin’s estimation, there are about four different track listings being considered for Coldplay’s fifth studio album.
But this much is certain: The album’s title is ‘Mylo Xyloto’ — pronounced MY-lo ZY-letoe — and the release date is Oct. 25.
The album’s colorful artwork has also been revealed. Half of the CD versions of ‘Mylo Xyloto’ will be packaged with the full-color artwork as the cover; the other half will have the CD booklet flipped. A limited “pop-up” vinyl edition will come with a hardback book featuring graffiti art designed by David A. Carter.
On Sept. 12, look for the release of “Paradise,” the follow-up single to “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall,” which has peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
All of Coldplay’s studio albums to date — ‘Parachutes’ (2000), ‘A Rush of Blood to the Head’ (2002), ‘X&Y’ (2005) and ‘Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends’ (2008) — have each sold at least 2 million copies in the United States.
