The Kansas City Chiefs were being smart when they brought in a barber to cut the hair of players before heading down to the Super Bowl. The barber had finished one haircut and had started another one when his rapid test came back positive for COVID-19.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that more than 20 Chiefs players and personnel were on the list to get touchups from the KC barber, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Two players are already on the reserve/COVID-19 list as a result of the close contact with the positive barber, but if the report is true, the day could have been a whole lot worse.

Both wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and backup center Daniel Kilgore have tested positive yet were wearing masks during the haircut. Due to the protocol, they must go through the steps to get back on the field, which includes five days of consecutive negative COVID-19 tests.

The Chiefs won't travel to Tampa Bay until Saturday, so the two players have a real shot at not even missing the team charter.

NFL.com is reporting that the barber in question tested negative five consecutive days before being allowed into the Chiefs facility. He was allowed in and took an additional COVID-19 rapid test as a precaution before entering the facility. The barber was wearing double masks and was still cutting Kilfore's hair when the test came back positive.

The Chiefs avoided disaster by being prepared, but the loss of Kilgore, who should be in line to play because of injuries, would be detrimental to the goal of winning a Super Bowl. He's in good spirits though, poking fun at the half-cut on twitter today.

Robinson was in contact on Saturday with the same barber, but has confirmed that he has not tested positive and is on track to be back at practice on Friday. Robinson has played in every game this season, totaling 45 catches for 466 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season.

The good news is that the Chiefs had put in the game plan during a full week of practice last week, so the pair missing practice isn't as big of a deal as it might seem. It's an exponentially smaller deal than if the barber had cut 20 heads of hair and caused the entire franchise to go into lockdown mode.
