6th Annual Back 2 School Kick Off August 22, 2015
Back to school is in the air. With Texas' tax-free weekend behind us and school shopping well underway, there is an event on the horizon that will officially signal back to school.
The Mae Simmons Community Center and Lubbock County Voices Coalition are hosting the 6th Annual Back 2 School Kickoff and Zero Alcohol Youth Conference (Z.A.Y.C.), Saturday, August 22 from 9 a.m. to Noon.
There will be live music, giveaways, information booths and backpacks filled with school supplies for the kids in grades Kindergarten through 12th. Children must be present to receive a backpack. It's a free event and open to all ages.
Local businesses have donated 1,000 backpacks and school supplies for the kickoff.
The Mae Simmons Community Center is located at 2004 Oak Avenue (23rd & Oak). For more information, call (806) 767-2700 or (806) 767-2708.
