Alan Bowman Injury Update: Partially Collapsed Lung, No Timeline for Return
Texas Tech's true freshman quarterback Alan Bowman likely won't be back on the field anytime soon.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told press early Sunday evening that Bowman had suffered a partially collapsed lung during Texas Tech's game against West Virginia. The one upside is that the QB did not suffer from any rib fractures, which would have made his recovery take much longer.
Bowman was hit from both sides during a play on Saturday, and was immediately taken out of the game and brought to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock. Per local sports reporter Don Williams, Coach Kingsbury said that Bowman was "in good spirits" and "up and alert and seemed to be in a good mood."
Texas Tech lost the game to West Virginia 42-34 despite a serious second-half comeback mounted by Jett Duffey and a nearly flawless defensive effort that held the Mountaineers to just 7 points, which was scored on an interception thrown by Duffey late in the 4th quarter.
