It's kinda hard to admit it, but the most googled Cinco de Mayo query from Texas is "What is Cinco de Mayo", according to cabletv.com, which mined the info from Google search data. Yeowch. But hey, at least people are trying to educate themselves, right?

In case you were also asleep during this part of history class, according to History.com Cinco de Mayo:

is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). A relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations.

Since we luckily have a huge Mexican-American population in Texas you would think we would know better, but hey, at least we all know to show and have a great time while celebrating a gorgeous, vibrant culture that has so deeply informed the Texas way of life.

And hey, at least we aren't as bad as Arizona, whose number one cinco de Mayo query was When Is Cinco de Mayo. I mean, the date it in the name y'all.
