Texas Tech University might be known for our football and basketball teams, but one team that deserves more hype is our Pom Squad.

This talented group of ladies not only perform at every home football, volleyball, and basketball game, but they are also champions in their competition division. They are national champions in both division 1A Pom and Jazz, as well as ICU Jazz World Champions as of 2022.

Their alumni have gone on to dance for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Houston Texans, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Knowing all of that, it makes sense that the girls on the team are incredibly talented. Not only do their accolades prove it, but seeing them dominate a certain internet trend simply confirms it.

A trend has been going around where dancers will stand with their back to one of their teammates, having to listen to the choreography to try and join in and see if they get it right. It sounds relatively simple, but when you consider how many dances they have to know off the top of their head, and the difficulty of figuring it out by sound alone, it isn’t an easy task.

Other than one small faulter (which I think is totally reasonable), our girls absolutely dominated and caught on to each dance incredibly fast. I’ve seen women at the professional level do the same trend and not do nearly as well as our Tech girls, so it is definitely impressive.
