It is that time of year when we all do what we can and get involve for our ladies and fight to find a cure for Breast Cancer. The "Race for the Cure" is going down Saturday morning October 5th and here are all details you need.

The biggest fundraising even  of the year is always the "Susan G Komen Race for the Cure."

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the largest series of 5k run/fitness walks in the world. You can run or walk the 5k route, with a team or as an individual. All registration fees include the offical Komen Race for the Cure t-shirt and Race bib.

Survivors
Whether you register to walk or run, if you indicate that you are a breast cancer survivor during registration you will receive a pink survivor T-shirt, hat and bib along with your Race T-shirt. Be sure to take part in our Race Day Survivor Recognition Program generously sponsored by Zeta Tau Alpha.

Volunteer
Volunteers are an integral part of the Komen Organization. The Race for the Cure would not be possible without the help of hundreds of committed volunteers. Join an amazing group of individuals that dedicate their time, talent and energy to our great cause.


Ribbon Cutting for Covenant Health's New Mobile Mammography Bus

Event Description:
Come out and help kick off "Pinktober" Breast Cancer Awarness month and celebrate with Covenant the addition of another mobile mammography bus.The mobile mammography units provide mammography screenings within a 100-mile radius of Lubbock for women age 40 and older. The units are staffed by specially trained, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists®-registered female X-ray technologists, and results are interpreted by board-certified radiologists. Financial arrangements can be made for women who cannot afford the established fees.

Ways to Register

ONLINE: Register online until midnight on Friday, October 4th.

All participants who register online BEFORE Friday, September 27th at Noon will receive their t-shirt and bib via mail at NO extra charge. All participants who register ONLINE AFTER Friday, September 27th at Noon will be responsible for picking up their shirt and bib at the mall location.
Packets will be mailed starting August 15th.

ON RACE DAY: Register at the Race on October 5th inside the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Registration opens at 7:30am and the registration fee is $35.

Race T-Shirts and Bibs

Individual Participants:

  • Every participant will receive a Race t-shirt and Race bib.
  • Participants who registerONLINE BEFORE September 27th at Noon will receive their shirt and bib via mail.
  • Participants who register ONLINE AFTER September 27th at Noon will need to pick up their Race shirt and bib at the mall location during the times listed above.
  • Participants who register on paper(offline) will need to pick up their Race shirt and bib at the mall location during the times listed above.

Team Member Participants:

Each individual will be responsible for picking up the Race shirt and bib. Register online by Friday, September 27th at Noon and your shirt and bib will be mailed to you. If you register AFTER Friday, September 27th at Noon you will need to come to the mall location to pick up your shirt and bib.

Race Expo

Visit the Race Expo area and enjoy a variety of food and entertainment! You can also get product samples and breast cancer educational materials from our Race sponsors and Community Grant recipients.

PLEASE NOTE: The Expo Area will open at 10am following the Race. All participants should be at the start line by 9:00am.

Kids for the Cure
Does your child want to be a Komen Kid?

The Kids Korner has a variety of fun activities and games that will take place during and after the Race at the northwest parking lot. See entry form for registration fee and more information.

Need a place to stay before the Race?

Room Block Available - For those near and far, Holiday Inn Civic Center will offer a special rate of $69, for this year's Race for the Cure participants. This rate is available for the nights of Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th. Be sure and book your room by September 7th to ensure this special rate. Safety: Strollers, Pets and Wheels
•Please do not bring pets to the event.
•For the safety of all participants, we discourage the use of inline skates and recreational scooters.
•We ask participants with strollers to line up behind runners so the runners can enter the course first.
